Amartya Ray – Shooting Star 2026

The world of cinema is home to great film stars who accompany us throughout our lives, almost as if they were part of our families.

Every career has to start somewhere, and there is no moment more thrilling than when a new star begins to shine.

Amartya Ray is more than just a shooting star: Ray has made a name for himself in Hindi and Bengali productions.
His work to date includes ‘Maidaan’ (2024), in which he plays a leading role alongside Ajay Devgn, as well as ‘22 Yards’ (2019) and ‘Uronchondi’ (2018), his debut in Bengali cinema.
Behind the camera, he is active as a director and singer-songwriter; he has directed short films and documentaries such as ‘Dhulo, Portraits: 2020’ and ‘Our Mountain Valley Home’, which have also been acclaimed at festivals. Musically, he writes and performs original indie songs and was involved as co-director on ‘Nevermind’.
With the short documentary ‘You in this city, this city inside you’, Amartya Ray is featured as a director at this year’s 23rd Stuttgart Indian Film Festival (25 July 2026, 1.00 pm, EM2).
