Die Mitglieder der Jurys für das 21. Indische Filmfestival Stuttgart 2024 werden ab Mitte Juni sukzessive bekannt gegeben.
The members of the juries for the 21st Indian Film Festival Stuttgart 2024 will be announced successively from mid-June.
ALEX BURESCH
Alex Buresch, geboren 1973, studierte Schauspieldramaturgie in München und Drehbuch an der Filmakademie in Ludwigsburg. Seit 2003 arbeitet er als Drehbuchautor für Kino und Fernsehen. Seine Arbeiten wurden mehrfach ausgezeichnet, unter anderem mit dem Grimmepreis, dem Preis der deutschen Filmkritik und dem deutschen Fernsehpreis. Alex Buresch unterrichtet Drehbuch an der Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg in Ludwigsburg, seit 2021 bildet er dort zusammen mit Johanna Stuttmann und Franziska Buch die Leitung der Abteilung Drehbuch. Er ist Mitglied der Deutschen Filmakademie und lebt in Stuttgart.
Alex Buresch, born in 1973, studied dramaturgy in Munich and screenwriting at the Film Academy in Ludwigsburg. He has been working as a screenwriter for cinema and television since 2003. His work has been honoured several times, including the Grimme Prize, the German Film Critics’ Prize and the German Television Prize. Alex Buresch teaches screenwriting at the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg in Ludwigsburg, where he has headed the screenwriting department together with Johanna Stuttmann and Franziska Buch since 2021. He is a member of the German Film Academy and lives in Stuttgart.
DIANE SCHÜSSELE
Diane Schüssele studiert im letzten Studienjahr Drehbuch an der Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg. Zuvor studierte sie Medien und Film an der HdM Stuttgart und an der University of Texas at Austin (USA), wo sie mehrere preisgekrönte Kurzfilme schrieb, inszenierte und produzierte. Seit 2015 arbeitet sie als Autorin und Konzepterin für digitale Erzählformate. Zuletzt hat sie die in Island spielende Diplomserie ‚Huldufólk‘ mitgestaltet. Derzeit schreibt sie an einem Kurzfilm für arte und den SWR. Ihr erster Spielfilm ‚Verdandi‘ wird derzeit in Kooperation mit arte und dem BR produziert.
Diane Schuessele studies screenwriting in her final year at the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg. She previously studied media and film at the HdM Stuttgart and at the University of Texas at Austin (USA), where she wrote, directed and produced several award-winning short films. Since 2015 she has been working as author and concept designer for digital narrative formats. Recently she co-created the diploma series ‘Huldufólk’ set in Iceland. She is currently writing a short film for arte and SWR. Her first feature film ‘Verdandi’ is currently being produced in cooperation with arte and BR.
Sven Bergmann
Sven Bergmann studierte von 1991 bis 1996 Animationsfilm an der HfbK Hamburg. Von 1995 bis 2011 arbeitete er u.a. als VFX-Artist und Producer für Film-, TV- und Videospielproduktionen. 2011 machte er eine Fortbildung IHK Fiction Producer. Seit 2006 ist er Dozent für Animation/Motion Capture, VFX und Schnitt. Von 2012 bis 2013 war er Vertretungsprofessor VFX und Schnitt an der HdM Stuttgart, von 2013 bis 2015 Studien- und Herstellungsleiter am Animationsinstitut der Filmakademie, von 2017 bis 2019 Producer des Videospiels ‚A Juggler’s Tale, von 2019 bis 2023 Ausbildungsleiter Mediengestalter Bild und Ton. 2024 absolvierte er eine Ausbildung zum Drehbuchautor an der Masterschool Drehbuch in Berlin und Bildungsurlaub in Erdlingen.
Sven Bergmann studied animation film at the HfbK Hamburg from 1991 to 1996. From 1995 to 2011, he worked as a VFX artist and producer for film, TV and video game productions. In 2011 he completed an IHK Fiction Producer training course. He has been a lecturer for animation/motion capture, VFX and editing since 2006. From 2012 to 2013 he was a substitute professor for VFX and editing at the HdM Stuttgart, from 2013 to 2015 head of studies and production at the Animation Institute of the Film Academy, from 2017 to 2019 producer of the video game ‘A Juggler’s Tale’, from 2019 to 2023 head of training for media designers for image and sound. In 2024, he completed training as a screenwriter at the Masterschool Drehbuch in Berlin and educational leave in Erdlingen.
FRANK WALTER
Frank Walter ist ein Dokumentarfilmproduzent. Im Jahr 2020 schloss er sein Studium an der Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg in Ludwigsburg ab und gründete seine Firma Paradoks Film mit Sitz in Ulm. Seine Firma hat sich auf die Produktion künstlerisch anspruchsvoller und gesellschaftlich relevanter Dokumentarfilme spezialisiert. Paradoks Film legt großen Wert auf die Zusammenarbeit mit talentierten Filmschaffenden aus der ganzen Welt, um dem Publikum auf der ganzen Welt vielfältige menschliche Erfahrungen näher zu bringen.
Frank Walter is a documentary film producer. In 2020, he graduated from the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg in Ludwigsburg and founded his company, Paradoks Film, based in Ulm. His company specializes in producing artistically compelling and socially relevant documentary films. Paradoks Film emphasizes collaboration with talented filmmakers from around the world to bring diverse human experiences to life for audiences everywhere.
SABINE BURG DE SOUSA FERREIRA
Sabine Burg de Sousa Ferreira schloss im Jahr 2000 die Kunsthochule für Medien in Köln mit einem fiktionalen Kurzfilm ab. Sie absolvierte im Anschluss den Aufbaustudiengang Drehbuch an der Ifs in Köln und machte sich als Drehbuchcaoch selbständig. Viele Jahre arbeitete sie als Cutterin im News- und Reportagebereich für den WDR. Seit 2010 unterrichtet sie an der Hochschule Offenburg und betreut dokumentarische Filmprojekte in der Konzeption. Beim trinationalen Studierendenfilmfestival SHORTS verantwortet sie zusammen mit der Festivalleitung die Auswahl der non-fiktionalen Filme.
Sabine Burg de Sousa Ferreira graduated from the Academy of Media Arts in Cologne in 2000 with a fictional short film. She then completed a postgraduate course in screenwriting at the Ifs in Cologne and set up her own business as a screenwriting coach. She worked for many years as an editor in the news and reportage sector for WDR. She has been teaching at Offenburg University of Applied Sciences since 2010 and supervises the conception of documentary film projects. At the trinational student film festival SHORTS, she is responsible for the selection of non-fictional films together with the festival management.
NADJA VARSANI
Nadja Varsani (geb. Wegfahrt) studierte Filmgestaltung und Dokumentarfilmregie an der Hochschule Darmstadt, der Internationalen Hochschule für Film und Fernsehen (EICTV) in Kuba und der Hochschule der Medien in Stuttgart. Seit 2016 realisiert sie als Autorin, Regisseurin und Producerin bei fechnerMEDIA Dokumentar- und Imagefilme. Zuvor leitete sie die Medienkampagne zum Kino-Dokumentarfilm ‚Power to Change‘, die in über 360 Städten Veranstaltungen zum Filmstart initiierte.

She has been realising documentaries and image films as a writer, director and producer at fechnerMEDIA since 2016. She previously managed the media campaign for the cinema documentary ‘Power to Change’, which initiated events in over 360 cities to mark the film’s release.
CAROLIN SCHRÖTER
Carolin Schröter studierte Theater- und Medienwissenschaft sowie Anglistik und Amerikanistik an der Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg. Anschließend zog sie nach München, wo sie für die ProSiebenSat1 Media AG und die Sky Deutschland Fernsehen GmbH arbeitete. Als Marktbeobachterin und Trendscout beschäftigte sie sich mit allen Genres und Formaten im Bereich der fiktionalen und faktualen Unterhaltung. Um ihrer eigenen Kreativität freien Lauf zu lassen, bildete sie sich im Bereich Serial Storytelling an der Internationalen Filmschule Köln weiter und arbeitet seitdem als Drehbuchautorin.
Carolin Schröter studied Theater and Media Studies as well as English and American Cultural Studies at Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg. She then moved to Munich, where she worked for ProSiebenSat1 Media AG and Sky Deutschland Fernsehen GmbH. As a market observer and trend scout, she engaged with all genres and formats in the areas of fictional and factual entertainment. To give her own creativity free rein, she furthered her education in Serial Storytelling at the International Film School Cologne and has since worked as a screenwriter.
FELIX RUPLE
Felix Ruple ist Freier Produzent, Producer und Autor aus Stuttgart. Er arbeitete u.a. bereits für die Bavaria Fiction, Schiwago Film und Rat Pack Filmproduktion. Nach seinem Studium an der Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg im Fachbereich Serien-Producing sowie einem Auslandssemester an der Columbia Universität New York City, war er für mehrere Staffeln der ZDF-Serien ‚Dr. Klein‘ sowie ‚Soko Stuttgart‘ tätig. Anschließend realisierte er als Freier Produktionsleiter diverse Spielfilme vorrangig für den SWR. Sein aktueller Spielfilm ‚No Dogs Allowed‘, den er für das ZDF – Das kleine Fernsehspiel produzierte, feiert 2024 Premiere.
Felix Ruple is a freelance producer, producer and author from Stuttgart. He has already worked for Bavaria Fiction, Schiwago Film and Rat Pack Filmproduktion, among others. After studying series producing at the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg and spending a semester abroad at Columbia University in New York City, he worked on several seasons of the ZDF series ‘Dr Klein’ and ‘Soko Stuttgart’. He then realised various feature films as a freelance production manager, primarily for SWR. His current feature film ‘No Dogs Allowed’, which he produced for ZDF – Das kleine Fernsehspiel, will premiere in 2024.
PRADIPTA RAY
Pradipta Ray ist eine preisgekrönte Trans-Filmemacherin, Malerin, Animationskünstlerin und Pädagogin mit Sitz in Mumbai. Als Absolventin des Government College of Art & Craft (GCAC) in Kolkata und des National Institute of Design ist Pradipta Ray seit fast zwei Jahrzehnten regelmäßig Gastdozentin an ihrer Alma Mater. Sie ist zudem Gastdozentin an der Universität der Künste UDK Berlin und der SRH Berlin School of Design and Communication, Berlin. Pradipta Ray ist seit 2005 mit The Humsafar Trust verbunden und ist seit 2018 Vorstandsmitglied von HST und vertritt die Trans-Community.
Pradipta Ray is an award-winning trans filmmaker, painter, animation artist and educationist based out of Mumbai. A fine art graduate from Government College of Art & Craft (GCAC), Kolkata, and an alumnus at National Institute of Design, Pradipta Ray is a regular visiting faculty at her alma mater for almost two decades. She is a guest lecturer at the University of Arts UDK Berlin, and SRH Berlin School of Design and Communication, Berlin. Associated with The Humsafar Trust since 2005, Pradipta Ray is a board member of HST since 2018 representing the trans community.
Holger Oehrlich
Holger Oehrlich can look back on over 25 years of professional experience as a creative. He has worked as a creative director and managing director for various creative agencies, such as BBDO and Jung von Matt, for brands such as Nike, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, BMW and many more. He has been in charge of advertising for Edeka since 2024. In total, he has won over 200 awards in the course of his career, at all relevant awards (multiple Cannes Lions, Eurobest, ADC Germany, ADC Europe, CLIO, LIA, Cresta, D&AD, etc.) for campaigns, packaging, art direction, etc. He is a member of the Art Directors Club Germany and the English D&AD and a regular jury member at creative festivals.

Michael Rösel
Michael Rösel wurde 1971 in Karlsbad geboren, studierte von 1993 bis 1998 Angewandten Kulturwissenschaften an der Uni Hildesheim und 1998 bis 2003 Regie/Werbefilm an der Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg. Danach war er als freischaffender Regisseur für Werbe- und Image-Filme im In-und Ausland tätig. Seit 2008 ist er Dozent für Werbefilm/Grundstudium an der Filmakademie, an der Lazi Akademie Esslingen, SAE Stuttgart, Uni Hildesheim u.a. Sein Spielfilm ‚Dolores‘ (2015) erhielt eine Nominierung für den Grimme-Preis, der Film ‚Laible & Frisch‘ lief 2017 als Eröffnungsfilm auf der Filmschau Baden-Württemberg. Darüber hinaus war Michael Rösel 2000 Ko-Leiter der 6. Filmschau Baden-Württemberg

Michael Rösel was also co-director of the 6th Filmschau Baden-Württemberg in 2000.
Peter Stein
Peter Stein ist ausgebildeter Filmemacher, Serienentwickler, Produzent und geschäftsführender Gesellschafter der blubb.media GmbH. Seit über 15 Jahren verantwortet er hunderte von Bewegtbildproduktionen – vom Dokumentarfilm über TVCs bis hin zu interaktiven Installationen. Er arbeitet für Agenturen und internationale Kunden in verschiedenen Bereichen wie Kultur, Forschung, Industrie und Werbung. Seine Produktionen wurden mit zahlreichen nationalen und internationalen Preisen ausgezeichnet. Er war einer der ersten Werbefilmproduzenten, der den CO2-Fußabdruck seiner Produktionen berechnete und unvermeidbare Emissionen ausglich. Seit 2013 ist er IHK-Ausbilder.
Peter Stein is a qualified filmmaker, series creator, producer, and managing partner of blubb.media GmbH. He has been responsible for hundreds of moving image productions for over 15 years – from documentaries and TVCs to interactive installations. He works for agencies and international clients in different sectors, such as culture, research, industry, and advertising. His productions have won numerous national and international awards. He was one of the first advertising film producers to calculate the carbon footprint of his productions and offset unavoidable emissions. He has been an IHK instructor since 2013.
