HISTORY
The Indian Film Festival Stuttgart reflects the growing internationalization of Indian film as well as the interest in Indian culture in Germany. Since 2004, the Indian Film Festival has presented around 1000 films to an interested audience and showed how Indian society is changing in the area of tension between tradition and modernity. A change that is not without conflict and thus offers material for countless other film stories.

More than ever, the Indian Film Festival Stuttgart is a sign of the intensive relationships between India and Germany, which are invigorated by a wide range of cooperation and partnerships.
This includes the city partnership between Stuttgart and Mumbai, which has existed since 1968 and celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2018.
