Dar Gai was born and brought up in Kiev, Ukraine. From the age of 10, Dar Gai was part of the Ukrainian theatre group ‘Incunabula’ as a theatre director for plays and street performances. She founded the art organisation ‘Molfarnist’ and organized two theatre summer festivals in Ukraine. After obtaining a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Philosophy from the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy
with a minor in film and theatre, Dar Gai was invited to India to teach screen writing and film appreciation at ‘Whistling Woods International’ in Mumbai.
Since then, Dar Gai has been writing and directing feature films, TV shows, commercials, short films and music videos in India. Her first narrative feature ‘Teen Aur Aadha’ was co-produced by noted Indian filmmaker Mr. Anurag Kashyap.
Dar Gais second film ‘Namdev Bhau in search of silence’ premiered at the Busan International Film Festival.
