The film tells the story of Jael, a Jewish woman who was born and raised in Kolkata and completed her higher education in the USA. Jael Silliman has forged a unique path in Kolkata, shaped by both the heritage of the Jewish community and her own identity as a painter, author, and social activist. As the youngest member of a dwindling Jewish community – now numbering fewer than 30 people – she has always felt a deep connection to Kolkata. The film explores her emotions and feelings, as well as her love for the city. Although most members of her community, along with friends and relatives, have either left the city or passed away, she has no intention of ever turning her back on Kolkata. She is the one who wanders the city, engaging with its Jewish historical legacy while translating her own emotions onto the canvas. Jael belongs to the eighth and final generation of the Jews who once settled in Kolkata; she is approaching her 70th birthday.
