Superboys of Malegaon ist ein Film über das Leben von Nasir Shaikh, einem Amateurregisseur aus der Stadt Malegaon. Für die Menschen der Stadt sind Bollywood-Filme oft die einzige Flucht aus dem tristen Alltag und so fasst Nasir einen kühnen Entschluss: Er will einen Film von den Menschen Malegaons, für die Menschen Malegaons drehen. Mit einer bunt zusammengewürfelten Gruppe von Freunden lässt er seine Vision Wirklichkeit werden – und haucht der Stadt damit neues Leben ein. Der Film ist eine bewegende, aber zugleich hoffnungsvolle Hommage an das Filmemachen und die Freundschaft und daran, was passiert, wenn diese beiden Welten aufeinandertreffen.
Superboys of Malegaon is a film based on the life of Nasir Shaikh, an amateur filmmaker from the town of Malegaon. The residents of the town look to Bollywood cinema for a much-needed escape from daily drudgery. Nasir gets inspired to make a film for the people of Malegaon, by the people of Malegaon. He bands together his ragtag group of friends to bring his vision to life, thereby bringing a fresh lease of life into the town. The film is a poignant yet uplifting take on both filmmaking and friendship – and what happens when those two worlds collide.
